First session of the Mindfulness Online Course was a success!

The first session of the online mindfulness course, part of the international Mindful Nature project (cooperation partnership in School Education), was a resounding success, with 20 educators from Portugal, Cyprus, and Greece participating. Organized by Casa do Professor, this course is part of a training program that integrates both online and face-to-face sessions.

The training aims to equip educators with the skills to incorporate mindfulness practices into educational settings, thereby enhancing students’ emotional well-being and their connection with nature. During this initial session, participants were introduced to the fundamental concepts of mindfulness practice and engaged in interactive activities.

The course will continue with two additional sessions: the second will explore the effects of mindfulness practices on both children and adults, while the third will focus on practical applications that can be utilized in the classroom.

Furthermore, next week will feature a workshop on mindfulness, followed by a Dissemination Conference on November 8 and 9 at the Casa do Professor premises. This final event aims to share the project’s outcomes within the framework of the Mindful Nature project and to encourage the implementation of discussed practices in other schools and countries.

The objectives of the Mindful Nature project, co-funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ program, include:

  • Creating an inclusive and collaborative school environment.
  • Strengthening cooperation between teachers and students through workshops.
  • Training European teachers in innovative methodologies that enhance student motivation.
  • Producing educational resources on Mindful Nature available in three languages.
  • Promoting mindfulness as a crucial element in improving students’ learning processes.

This course presents a valuable opportunity for educators to enhance their skills and contribute to a healthier and more mindful school community.
The trainer, Cátia Oliveira, who holds a master’s degree in preschool education and primary school teaching, brought extensive experience from her work in countries such as Thailand, India, Indonesia, Australia, Morocco, and Portugal.
